Lower School Art Teacher

 

Mrs. Geister joined the CCS staff in 2011. Emily earned her B.F.A. in Studio Art from the University of Oklahoma in 2008, and began teaching art right away in Washington, DC as a member of Teach for America. After teaching preschool through eighth grade students for two years in DC, she moved back to her home state of Oklahoma in 2010 to teach K-5th grade art at a local charter school. She has taught art for three years thus far in inner-city charter schools and a variety of church settings. She can’t wait to enjoy the freedom of teaching her faith through art! 

 

Emily’s prayer for the art classroom is that each child would feel loved and inspired to create as they learn about their Creator. With that as the foundation, Emily will also make it her goal to incorporate Core Knowledge, as well as the Elements & Principles of Art into daily lessons. Emily looks forward to all of the awesome experiences yet to be had in the art room! 

 

When Emily is not teaching or creating art, she is most likely spending time with her wonderful husband, Brandon (who she just married in March!!). God has given Emily the desire to sing, dance, create, motivate, and nurture. She and Brandon love to spend time with their families, their church family, and take adventures together in the great outdoors! 

 

One of Emily’s favorite verses is John 7:37-38: “On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” To Him be all glory & honor & praise!
