Middle and Upper School Girl's PE
Rachel Johnston, a native Shawnee resident, graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English Education in 1997. She has been teaching Language Arts for seven years and Girls' P.E. for two years.
Rachel has a precious daughter, Brooklyn, who attends CCS. She enjoys watching Brooklyn love and care for all types of animals everywhere they go! Rachel and Brooklyn’s favorite animals, though, are Pepper, Patches, and Percy, the three most spoiled guinea pigs in the world!
As a child, Rachel was raised to look for the activity of God in every situation. She was taught to be an independent thinker, and to question why she did what she did. This is reflected in her teaching; Rachel desires for each student to contemplate everyday decisions they make. She challenges them to allow the Holy Spirit, and a deeper understanding of God’s word, to be their guide, rather than emotions, traditions, or peer pressure.
Rachel loves to teach P.E. because she understands the importance of training and discipline in the every day life of a Christian, whether it be physical, mental, or spiritual. Rachel's hope is that her P.E. class will teach young ladies how to implement physical training and discipline into their lives in an area they can enjoy and continue to benefit from long-term.
For most of her life, Rachel has leaned on the following scripture from Isaiah 43:1:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine.”
What a wonderful promise it is to know that God claims us! He has called us by name and redeemed us; we belong to Him!
