FIRST GRADE

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. 

1 John 4:7

The first-grade team truly rejoices daily as we are so grateful for the opportunity to work with one another and teach each of our first-grade students. What a blessing it is to observe the joy the students experience as they learn and grow so much during this special year! First grade is an exciting time as our students enhance their ability to read, write, and spell. They are so amazed at what they learn so quickly. We often hear giggles as our little ones review their own work from just two months before! Our focus reveals God’s Word in each lesson and activity to enrich our student’s development of a Christian worldview. Psalm 118:24

We rejoice in each day with an abundance of activities. Each day is framed by grade-level praise, worship, and prayer time, which is coupled with exploration of our Bible lessons. Our first graders develop a love for reading and writing as they delve into stories, books, and activities that take them on an adventure. Math concepts evolve through hands-on learning and centers that bring so much understanding and pleasure to the world of math. Science and Social Studies turn our first graders into explorers of various topics. Our students engage in and celebrate units of study with creative activities. Some of their favorites include our Egyptian Festival, Health Day, and The Hat Parade! We strive to correlate learning to real life.

We thank God for this opportunity to serve as the first-grade team. We make it a priority to communicate and share resources with our parents and students each week through our first-grade website.
